But here’s the best part—we’re not just about selling lipstick and mascara (although, let’s be real, we’ve got some pretty killer products). We’re about empowering women, building confidence, and unleashing your inner boss babe.
Mary Kay Ash founded this company on the values of God, family, then business. And let me tell you, those values run deep in everything we do. As a mom myself, I know how important it is to prioritize family. That’s why I’ve structured my Mary Kay business in a way that allows me to homeschool my kids and be at every sporting event. Because at the end of the day, family always comes first.
So, if you’re ready to slay your goals and have a ton of fun while doing it, then you’re in the right place. And trust me, with a little bit of sass and a whole lot of sparkle, we’re going to take the Mary Kay world by storm together.
So what do you say? Are you ready to join the Pink Side and become the ultimate beauty boss? If your answer is a resounding “heck yes!” then let’s do this thing!
Can’t wait to welcome you to the team!
With all my sass and sparkle,
Sara Pennella
Debunking Common Myths About Mary Kay
Mary Kay is my Grandma’s makeup. False. While Mary Kay’s initial client base did include middle-aged women, this was simply due to starting with a familiar audience. Today, Mary Kay proudly offers products for all ages, including teens, young adults, and even men. Explore everything Mary Kay has to offer at www.marykay.com/sstanizeski.
Mary Kay is a pyramid scheme. This couldn’t be further from the truth. All Mary Kay consultants earn a 50% commission on products, regardless of their tenure, position, or sales volume. When building a team, Mary Kay, Inc. pays you to mentor and support new team members. No money is taken from the new team member to pay their recruiter or upline.
You have to go to meetings. Attending meetings is not mandatory. However, to be successful, it is beneficial to participate in trainings and coaching with your Director.
You have to stock products. Mary Kay will ship products directly to customers at a low shipping cost. While having products on hand can be helpful, especially for demos, it is not a requirement. You have the flexibility to choose how you manage your inventory.
You have to throw parties. Absolutely not. There are many ways to share Mary Kay products, including virtual options, social media, in-person appointments, one-on-one sessions, and more. The key is to find the method that works best for you and get trained on it.
You have to wear makeup and know about skincare. Not true. Many consultants, including myself, started with little to no knowledge of makeup and skincare. The important part is trying the products, falling in love with them, and respecting the business plan. Plus, there’s no pressure to wear makeup daily.
You have to recruit. No, you earn your 50% commission whether or not you choose to build a team. However, helping women build their businesses can be incredibly rewarding.
It takes a lot of money to start. Starting a Mary Kay business costs just $35 (as of 5/2024). To become active in your business, you need to purchase $225 in wholesale products, but this investment can be covered through pre-sales and doesn’t have to come out of pocket.
You have to use social media. Nope. While social media can be a powerful tool, it is not required. You can successfully grow your Mary Kay business through personal interactions and phone calls.
Common Concerns
Here are some quotes of excuses that I’ve personally overcome:
- “I can’t sell a banana to a monkey!”
- “I can’t sell all of that makeup if I don’t wear it.”
- “It’s not part of my personality.”
- “I don’t want to be pushy and icky.”
- “I’m too shy!”
If any of these myths or concerns have held you back, it’s time to reconsider. Mary Kay offers a flexible and rewarding business opportunity that can fit your lifestyle and strengths.
